Promises, Promises or "If I'm Elected I'll........."

It happens each time we have an election, either local, state, or national, and it always makes me shake my head in disbelief. This time, it's the presidential election, of course, and because of the current state of affairs at home, and America's perilous position in the world, the stakes are high. There is a literal boatload of 'candidates', and all of our political parties have their perspectives vying for the chance to represent their party in the upcoming primary election and be called up to 'the big show', and a shot at 'the title'. And that's exactly what it is.....a title, and everybody from the political 'experts', to the talking heads on TV, to the man or woman in the street seems to forget that, and that's what gets my head to shakin'.
The primaries are months away, yet from all the hype and hoopla you'd think we were voting tomorrow, and that it was for all the marbles. There are like, what, a hundred candidates in the hunt but we are only hearing about a few, plus Ron Paul, and it seems like the choices, at least for the Dems and Reps, have already been made because everyone's screaming about what's going to happen if this guy wins, or that gal wins, and God forbid Ron Paul should win 'cause the place will go to Hell in a handbasket! We keep hearing the same promises that if this guy's elected he'll cut big spending, and that guy will increase taxes, or she's going to have us all getting our healthcare from Walmart, and he's going to stop raising taxes, and if Ron Paul wins, well, you know......hell in a handbasket. It cracks me up that it seems like folks forget that our president isn't a king or a dictator, even though Bush has done his best to prove me wrong, and just because they are for this or against that, that this is what is going to happen if they're 'lucky' enough to win this thing! I have talked to college students who think the president can do whatever they choose, like a monarch or dictator, but the rest of us know that's not how things are supposed to work. Some of those same students believe the moon landings were all faked in Hollywood, too. Perhaps the current administration's lack of respect for constitutional law and the rights of the people of America has been going on for so long that the majority of people have forgotten that it's Congress and the Senate, guided by us, The People, who decide what happens in America, not the president. These campaign 'promises' that are being made should only be used to determine where the candidates stand on the issues, in fact, they shouldn't even be called promises, they're called 'planks'. They make up a canidates 'platform'. Personally, I stop listening to a candidate the instant the word 'promise' comes out of they're mouth because right then and there I know they're lying. Why? Because unless the candidate is a total dunce, they know they can't 'promise' anything. Never the less, each election cycle the candidates promise, the spin doctors go to work, and the pundits wrap what the spin doctors tell them in hype, and before you know it, that guy will have the world pointing nukes at us, and she's going to run up the deficit, and he's going to tax us to death, and Ron Paul will, well, you know.....hell in a handbasket. It's the same each election year, but for some reason it feels a lot different this time. Maybe it's because we're really tired of the same old crap, maybe it's because we're sick and tired of killing innocent people in the name of America, maybe it's because we really need positive change, I just don't know. I haven't been able to put my finger on it yet, so I'm going  to keep watching and listening to the media circus as the paid schills from each of the big two battle it out for ratings and keep spreading their message of doom and gloom if the other guy wins because God knows that if that guy wins....., or if that gal wins...., and if this guy wins...., and if Ron Paul wins, well you know....hell in a handbasket!

Leading The Blind

Boy, do I feel like an idiot.......jeese! I've been writing this thing for two months now, all the time wondering why nobody is reading it, and wondering how to generate some readers. Oh, I've had some readers, but they've all been people I have basically 'forced' to read it, you know, friends, family, colleagues. Being that I am by myself here, going to school and setting my life up, and that I am basically a computer 'rookie', I am left to figure a lot of this stuff out for myself. This is sometimes a long, frustrating process that causes me to make mistakes. I have wondered what 'tags' are since I began doing this, and it's just now that I think I know what they're for. 'TAGS' are how readers are directed to blogs and other thing on the web, right? Well, I'm about to find out. I'm gonna add some 'keywords' in the 'tags' box and see what happens. If I'm correct, and I choose the right 'keywords', new readers should find this rag when searching for stuff that corrisponds with the words. If I'm wrong, I'm gonna go eat some worms! If I'm finally catching on, and this is getting out there beyond this site, please enter a comment so I know I'm on the right track, and so I can send a thank you for rescuing me! Jeese, this is like the blind leading the blind!

TORTURE ! Bluring The Lines Between Stupid and Ignorant

Recently there has been a butt-load of debate about torture in the news and in legislature, and it has made me start to believe what my dear Auntie told me a couple of months ago, that a great number of people in this country are stupid. I argued that 'stupid' actually means retarded or mentally deficiant, is a disease, and has to be treated by psychiatrists and medication, and that I didn't, no, wouldn't believe people were anything more serious than ignorant, and that can be fixed with knowledge. I was sure that if Americans were given the facts, and told the truth, they would be able to make intelligent decisions and comments about the issues we are facing. It even appeared that the 'lamestream media' had gotten pissed, and was starting to report as much of the truth as they thought they could get away with before losing their corporate elite sponsorship! It looks like NBC went a bit too far, because they are having major problems right now. I really thought that folks would become educated, therfore tossing their ignorance to the wind and climb out of the depths of disbelief and prove to my Auntie that they were just misinformed or uneducated, and not mentally ill and 'stupid'..... WRONG!!!! But then again, when a lot of these people are listening to fair and well balanced journalists(?) like Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Michael Savage, what else can you expect? Guys like them seem to think that when our founding fathers wrote things like "all men are created equal", and "certain inalienable rights", they meant everone but us here in America. We Americans, of course, are not equal, how insulting, we're superior! I actually heard one of these idiots call into a radio talkshow this morning and say, quote,"People keep forgetting one thing, American lives are far more important than other people's, and using torture to get information from prisoners that will save American lives is just fine!" Nevermind that experts in intelligence circles have been saying for years on TV and radio, and in books that torture does not work. Nevermind that Presidential Candidate and Viet Nam Veteran and War Hero John McCain has told us time and time again that when he was tortured during his imprisonment at The Hanoi Hilton, one of history's most brutal P.O.W. camps, he NEVER told his captors anything of importance. He consistantly lied and told them whatever they wanted to hear in order to end the torture. IT DOESN'T WORK! Period! Perhaps this is a good time to give the dictionary definition of torture so everyone understands what it is. Torture is the use of severe pain or mental anguish during an act of coersion. That's fairly simple to understand, right? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to comprehend this concept does it? Then will sombody please explain to me why so called intelligent people are still arguing about what constitutes torture, and whether or not America should use it?
The Geneva Conventions, which were agressively backed and signed by The U.S.A., expressly forbid torture of any kind when dealing with prisoners of war. When you examine the Geneva Conventions, and there are four 'conventions', you discover that every person detained in enemy hands MUST be either a prisoner of war, and treated according to the third convention, or a civilian, and treated according to the forth convention. Either way, they are human beings and have rights under The Geneva Conventions. George Bush has tried to skirt around this point of international law by proclaiming the detainees 'unlawful enemy combatants', and holding them in off shore detention camps. The Geneva Conventions say that under these circumstances the 'detainees' must be prosecuted under the domestic laws of the detaining state, which means that they now fall under the protection of our constitution! Our constitution has very definate protections against torture, and we have successfully prosecuted Japanese war criminals for using torture during WWII. The Bush Administration has illegally changed the constitution in order to circumvent domestic law, and is in blatant violation of The Geneva Conventions each and every time it authorizes the use of torture in the interrogation of any 'detainee' in U.S. custody. If you don't think they have authorized the use of torture then why is the C.I.A. destroying tapes of interrogations carried out on the 'unlawful enemy combatants' they are detaining at Camp Gitmo? Innocent men don't destroy potentially damaging evidence if they have nothing to hide. I think it was George Bush who was heard saying, quote,"A country that is, uh, trying to hide something is, uh, a country, er, that has, uh, is trying to hide something."
My point behind all of this is this, a lot of my fellow Americans are either sorely mis-informed, ignorant, or just plain stupid, and would do America a great service by checking their facts before opening their mouths or putting pen to paper(or fingers to keys). I have personally talked to college students about civics, current events, and our system of government and some, no, a lot of these young Americans actually believe things like this, The president can do whatever he or she wants to without the approvall of legislature or the people, like a king or dictator, the moon landings never really happened and were all faked on soundstages in Hollywood, the constitution 'gives' us our rights, and according to the gentleman on the radio this morning, torture is alright as long as it's being done to save 'superior American lives'! Holy Shit, Batman! These are our future leaders! I think people have been watching too much "24", and our culture and educational system for the last couple of decades has created a society of ignorant couch potatos who don't have an opinion unless someone like Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh or Jerry Springer gives it to them! Make no mistake about it, folks, water-boarding IS torture, torture is wrong, not only according to man's laws, but according to God's laws as well, and anyone that uses torture is commiting a crime against humanity, and a war crime, and deserves to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
I am still on the fence as far as the issue of stupidity versus ignorance goes, but the more I hear the average man and woman on the street, or on the air, express their opinions, even given the ease with which they can get the true facts about things, the more I have to agree with Dear Auntie P. The once sharp, definative lines between ignorance and stupidity are now so blurred, some people believe intentionally, that it's hard to differentiate between the two. What scares the crap out of me is this. Our world is entering an uncertain future, complete with the thereat of nuclear war, drastic climate change, either man-made or natural, famine and starvation, over-population, pandemic disease, tyranny, the list goes on ad infinitum, and from what I can gather from watching and listening to the general population, there might not be enough intelligence circulating around the world to fill a shot glass at Tila Tequilla's house!  Don't take my word for it, do the research and decide for yourself. Everything I have said here can be verified by looking up The Geneva Conventions, The U.S. Constitution, news archives and the many public intell sites on the Web. Become educated about what's happening around you, then speak out against the things that you see as unfair and unjust, and especially when you hear someone who just doesn't get it spewing garbage and crap out over the airwaves, further mis-informing the public's already weakened, influential mindset. Knowledge is power, friends, and an intelligent, well informed and honest people will always defeat the evil liars who try to enslave them. Works every time! Peace Out,

What's It All About, Alfie? Could This Be IT?

For the last few years, I have been Hoping some adventurous, daring imaginative filmmaker would make a movie that was new, different, exciting. Anything but the constant mindless remakes, sequels, and dribble that keeps coming out of Hollywood. An epic thriller that would scare the crap out of me. Well, for the last two and a third hours, I have been absolutely terrified by just such a movie. This is a horror flick, but not your traditional special effects laden, monster ridden, blood spattered gore fest. This is a documentary, which if true, is far more terrifying than anything the best minds in Tinsel Town could ever think up. Oh, you bet your ass it has monsters, murder, an evil master, a mind bending plot, and all the hallmarks of a gerat horror film..........the problem is that the monsters are our world leaders, the evil master is the world's elite, the plot is total domination, and the murder is yours. "Endgam3 Blueprint For Global Enslavement" is the latest offering from Pulitzer Prize winning filmmaker, radio talkshow host, and self proclaimed Patriot, Alex Jones. The film is well made, and although I found it to be a tad long, I just couldn't bring myself to stop it. As is Mr. Jones' practice, his movie is based in fact, with many pieces of news footage, both local and worldwide, and, if one wants to jot down a few notes, he makes it quite simple to research the claims made during the film. I have been following Alex Jones on the Internet radio network 'WTPRN' for almost a year now, and have a hard time grasping some of the concepts put forth because he is the far left's answer to Rush Limbaugh, and has a tendandcy to get a little nutty and out of control on the air, which causes me to turn him off. But I can tell you this, everything he has said on his show I have been able to verify with a few searches on the web. He uses the culprit's own documentation to out them! Ain't the Freedom Of Information Act grand? Even if you can't stand Alex Jones, but your concerned about where all of this insanity in our government is leading, you owe it to yourself, and your country to watch this film. A few years back, I had the pleasure of being the 'guest' of the State of Texas for a week on a trumped up drug charge that stemmed from an illegal highway stop while on a cross country trip to visit my dad. I should have known better than to drive across Texas on Memorial Day wearing long hair behind the wheel of a VW van!?! Anyway, while there, I heard all kinds of talk about how pissed Texans were at the U.S. government, and that there was serious talk of Texas seceding form America. After watching this film, now I know why! It was around the time Uncle Sam began stealing Texan's land for the Trans-Texas Corridor, which is documented in the movie. Do I believe all the allegations laid out in this film? I haven't figured that out yet, but it sure answers a lot of questions if it is all true. The simple fact of the matter is this......The U.S.A., and the constitution we cherish and defend with our young people's lives is under attack by our own President, Vice President, and many in Congress and the Senate, and this could be the reason why. When you really take a good look at the excuses and lies we have been spoon-fed for the last five years, not much else makes any sense. You decide for yourselves. Watch this film and make your own comparisons about the frightening world we live in and what is documented in "ENDGAM3", and do the right thing. Peace Out,

Just Trippin'

It's been an interesting few days, a lot of stuff going on that deserves to be, no wait, demands to be looked at closer. From the pending U.S. Supreme Court case regarding the Guantanomo 'detainees', to Gov. Mit Romney's re-hash of J.F.K's speech on religion and presidential candidates, some interesting and revolutionary concepts have been bounced about in recent days.
At the end of last week, we went into the weekend wondering if 'The Decider' was going to attack Iran or not, and start WWIII, and on Monday, like a miracle from above, the latest N.I.E. is released, and America breathed a collective sigh of relief because it has been determined that Iran, that dastardly 'axis of evil' nation, does not have, and has not had a urainium enrichment program for weapons grade matrerial since 2004, and the intelligence community knew this since 2006.It has also been determined that it would take the Iranians until 2015, at least, to develop any kind of neuclear weapon, most likely longer. Now, one would think that "Mr. Deciderguy" would be dancing a Texas Square Dance over this obviously fabulous news, but one would be sadly mistaken, as was I. During the Q & A that followed his press conference about........uhm,does anybody recall what it was that he talked about? Anyway, all the questions were about the N.I.E., and how he was going to deal with the Iran situation now that he, and America knew they weren't making atom bombs, and he said, are you sitting down, he said it didn't matter, in his mind(oh shit!) they are still a threat, and the National Intelligence Estimate isn't going to change how he deals with Iran. At one point near the end he said, and I'm paraphrasing, "Well, so what if they don't have the knowledge to make bombs, can you imagine if they do get it?" Then he went on to say, quote, "Do you want to live in that world?" Ahem, Mr. President, we already live in that world, or have you forgotten about the internet? Anybody with a computer and a command of their language can go online and gather all the 'knowledge' they need to build an atom bomb. Having the knowledge doesn't make them dangerous, Dubya, having the ability to enrich uranium to the proper isotope is what makes them dangerous, and Iran ain't there, stupid! I hope by now that the people who have been ignoring Bush's past behavior are waking up to the fact that this man is a psychotic sociopath and he is extremely unstable and dangerous, and we need to stop him or he will do something really evil before he leaves office, and has the U.S. in some quagmire that will take even more lives to get us out of. I think impeachment and removal from office is a good place to start, then we'll see how long it is before him and Cheney are arrested for treason and war crimes and murder and..........
There is a group of concientious lawyers, I know,I know, that's an oxymoron, anyway, they're representing the remainder of the detainees at Guantanamo, Cuba, in a case in front of The Supreme Court, asking that they either be charged with crimes or be released. Some of these men have been locked up at Camp Gitmo since shortly after the assault on the Taliban in Afghanistan began five years ago, without any charges brought against them, or being told when they will be released. You have to ask yourself how this kind of unfair, and torturous treatment of human beings can be carried out by the United States of America, and all the while we are holding ourselves up as a country that will not tolerate, nor practice any kind of torture. That word torture has been getting a lot of attention lately, what with the inability of Bush's appointee for Attorny General to determine whether water-boarding is or isn't torture, and none of the Republican Presidential candidates except McCain daring to take a stance on what it is. Torture is subjecting a person to severe pain or mental anguish in an act of coercion. I would be willing to stick my neck out here, and say that being locked up thousands of miles from home, sleeping on the ground, living outdoors, being detained indefinately, and not having any representation or even being told why you're there severe mental anguish. Our constitution and the Geneva Convention both say that treating prisoners of war in this fashion is inhumane and illegal, yet The U.S.A. is doing exactly that by moving them offshore and calling them enemy combatants. By doing this, they don't have to adhere to the constitution because it's not happening in America and the detainees are not called prisoners of war!?!? This administration is so evil and power mad that it has carefully sat down and concocted a way to get around the laws of America and the Geneva Convention, which the U.S. attended and signed. I don't know how these men can actually believe that what is being done to the detainees in this case is moraly right, nevermind what U.S. and international law says. Anyway, these lawyers have a dificult battle ahead of them to say the least, and on top of everything else that is wrong with this atrocity, The Supreme Court won't pass down it's decision until spring or summer of 2008! For God's sake people, this is America!!
Finally, today Massachutsets Governor and presidential candidate Mit Romney was at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library to deliver what I thought was a truly great, but unneccessary speech about his religion and it's bearing on his being president. Fifty years ago, another young, handsom, and deeply faithful presidential candidate named Kennedy felt he had to do the same thing. I felt kind of bad for Romney before he began his speech because of the stature J.F.K. holds in the hearts and minds of America, and thought he had some awfully big shoes to fill. But almost as soon as he began to speak, I knew that he had a complete grasp of where he was and what he was doing. During a well crafted speach in which Gov. Romney laid out his thoughts and feelings about the issue, he also put forth the image of a deeply spiritual man who is acutely aware of where his faith belongs in carrying out his job if elected president. I wrote a diatribe a few days back in which I espoused the intentions of our founding fathers and my own feelings about the neccessity of religion in the mainainance of a democratic republic like America, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear that at least one person running for office shares those same feelings and knows what the founders had in mind. I don't recall the speach word for word, but I thought he did quite well, and he only mentioned his religion once, when comparing The Church of Latter Day Saints with all other religions in America and the importance that each and every one of those religions is free to worship as they see fit. A person's faith should not be used as a consideration of their qualifications for election. The fact that they have faith is what really matters. If you didn't have a chance to watch Gov. Romney's speech, and you're interested in such things, I urge you to go to YouTube and watch it. He does an excellent job of stating what I wrote about in my last offering. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to vote for him, I'm a Ron Paul supporter as of this moment, I'm only saying that he seems to get it.
So, until next time, I'm just keepin' it real from Port Hueneme, Ca.,  Peace Out!!!

Separating What and What?!?

Here's one of those notions that causes folks with some common sense to say "What?". It's the ludicrous idea of trying to separate the Church and State. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this country started by deeply religious men and women, and aren't all of our laws based on "The Ten Commandments"? Don't get me wrong, I understand what the phrase "separation of Church and State" represents, but don't you agree that it's gotten just a wee bit out of hand? Well, I do, and here's why.
Some of the early settlers, if not most of them, were intensely religious, deeply convicted people who immigrated to "The Colonies" to escape over-taxation, and religious persecution in Great Briain during the 18th century. The religious intensity that the original settlers brought with them in the 1600's had diminished somewhat over time, but the waves of 18th century immigrants brought their own religious fervor across the Atlantic Ocean and injected new vigor into early American religion. The result was that many of the colonists who rebelled against England in 1776 cited reasons a religious nature for doing so. Because of this religious revolution, when it came time to begin forming state and national governments, most colonial American statesmen shared a conviction that "religion was indespensible to the maintenence of republican institutions", to quote Alexis de Tocqueville. The efforts of our early legislators to find a proper role for their support of religion, and the degree that religion can be supported by elected or public officials without being inconsistant with the revolutionary imperative of freedom of religion for all Americans is an issue that continues to be debated to this day. I really think that if our founding fathers could see what politicians, lawyers, and 'political correctness' have done to all the work they, and those who continued their work had done, they would shit bricks of tea! Let's take a look at the first amendment to "The Constitution" and see what it says.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; Or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and petition the government for a redress of grievances."
The first amendment insures that our government can not prohibit or restrict the people of America from practicing or expressing whatever form of religion we choose. Nor does it prohibit or restrict our government from using the Word of God as a primer when making or interpreting law. From where I stand, it seems like that is exactly what is and has been happening in Washington D.C., and state capitols all across America for a very long time. Over the last couple of decades, we have seen a gradual, and intentional exclusion of religion and spirituality in matters concerning public life in America. We have witnessed the banning of prayer in our public education systems, we have seen the re-writing of "The Pledge of Allegiance" in order to remove the word'God', and finally saw it not being recited at all. For Christ's sake, "The Boy and Girl Scouts of America" have been attacked recently for their spiritual underpinings. It sure appears to me that the Word of God is being blatantly and deliberately ignored by our elected representitives as they consider new legislation, and debate established law. In a word, this is DANGEROUS! When we consider the kind of people who founded America, it's no coincidence to me that there are "Ten Commandments" and there are ten articles in "The Bill of Rights" As colonial statesman Tocqueville so eloquintly pointed out to his colleagues, religion is "indispensable" in maintaining a republic, which is what America is, and we must remind ourselves, and our leaders of this fact, or risk watching this nation slide further down the slippery slope it is currently on. How did this happen to such a fine country you ask? Well friends, this is what I have been able to determine from what I've seen. We in The
U.S.A., in an idiotic attempt to avoid any kind of conflict whatsoever, have used the mantra of 'political correctness' to aquiess to to a small minority of self centerd whiners who can't, or won't realize that it's OK, even good, to be 'different'. 'Political correctness' is a doctrine fostered by that small minority of delusional whiners, and some in the conservative mainstream media which puts forth the insane proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the 'clean' end! A large number of Americans have become so self centered and lazy that through this doctrine there is now a mechanism for turning the truth into a lie. For example, little Johnny comes home for school and is confused, or even frightened by something that he experienced there because it is new or different. Now instead of being open minded, and educating himself, and little Johnny, about the new concept, Daddy becomes angry because he's uncomfortable and goes out and hires a lawyer and fights to have the 'bad thing' restricted or eliminated, thus insuring the continuance of intolerance.Only self centered people believe their feelings are controlled by outside influence. The reality is that truly spiritual people know that we choose how we are going to react to the things we see and hear. And only lazy people refuse to educate themselves about that which they misunderstand, perpetuating the cult of ignorance. These people will always waste their energy attempting to bend everything different to their will. This terrorizing trend towards intolerance is making it liiegal to be different or poor. The hypnotized masses are like lemmings, blindly following a clueless and intolerant leader only because they see others following. They can't handle the pressure or discomfort of responsibility or independant thinking, and that's just the way their leaders like things. All the that leaders of the masses care about is money and power. "That's a good lemming, just give us your taxes, and stay in line!" And where have you heard this? "Don't complain or we'll pass laws that make speaking your mind a crime!" Ahem, let's see, perhaps S1959, the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Act of 2007?
The point of all this is that the more we allow our leaders to determine what is right and what is wrong based on special interest and "The Almighty Dollar", and not The Bible and "Almighty God", whatever that might mean to each of them, the farther we get from the morals and values that make America what it is, "One nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all." The separation of church and state is intended to insure that one doesn't over influence the other. It's impossible to totally separate the two because it's Gods Word that we use as the basis for all of man's laws. The direction our current government is taking will eventually lead to corporate America making policy, instead of We The People making it. Keeping the Word of God and the teachings of Jesus in mind when governing, will insure that we remain a free and mighty nation, and keeping Almighty God in our hearts will insure that we never become intolerant. We must vigilently remind our elected servants that it is the Work of God we do, not the work of the Elite. 2000 years ago, a man named Jesus taught his followers that the work of God, The Father is to be of service to your fellow man, to be kind, honest, and tolerant. Those who we choose to govern must subscribe to this wisdom, or they certainly are not worthy of speaking for me!
  Peace Out, Unclepurple.

Separation of What and What?!?!

Here's one of those absurd notions that cause folks with common sense to say "What?" It's the ludicrous idea that America can actually separate the church and state. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this country started by deeply religious men and women, and aren't all of man's laws based on the Word of God in one way or another? Please don't get me wrong, I understand the concept that that phrase, "separation of church and state" represents, but don't you think it's gotten just a bit out of hand? Let's go back to the beginning and check this out, OK.
Some of the original settlers, if not most of them, were intensly religious, deeply convicted people who immigrated to "The Colonies" to escape over taxation and religious persecution in Great Britain during the 18th century.
The religious intensity that the original settlers brought with them in the 1600's had diminished somewhat over time, but the waves of 18th century immigrants brought their own religious fervor across the sea and injected new vigor into American religion. The result was that many of the people who rebelled against England in 1776 cited reasons of a religious nature for doing so. The efforts of our early legislators to find a proper role for for their support of religion, and the degree that religion can be supported by by elected or public officials without being inconsistent with revolutionary imperitive of freedom of religion for all Americans is an issue that continues to be debated to this day. I believe that if our founding fathers could see what politics, lawyers and "Political Correctness" have done to all the work they, and those who followed them, had done they would shit bricks!
The First Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and petition the government for a redress of grievances.
This amendment insures that our government can't prohibit the people of America from expressing and practicing whatever form of religion they choose. Neither does it prohibit government from using the Word of God as a primer when making new law. But it seems like that is exactly what is, and has been, going on in Washington for a very long time. Over the last couple of decades, we have seen a gradual exclusion of spirituality in all matters concerning public life in America. We have witnessed the banning of prayer in public schools, we've seen "The Pledge of Aleigence" re-written to remove the word God, and finally not being recited anymore at all. Even "The Boy and Girl Scouts of America" have been attacked for their spiritual underpinnings. It certainly appears to me that the Word of God is being completely, and deliberately ignored by our elected representitives when they are putting together new legislation, and arguing old law, and I believe this is a very dangerous situation. When I think about the kind of people who founded America, it's no coincidence to me that there are "Ten Commandments" and ten 'rights' in "The Bill of Rights". As  colonial statesman Tocqueville pointed out to his contemporaries, religion plays a very important role in maintaining a republic, that's what America is, and we must remind ourselves, and our government of this or risk having this nation slide further down the slippery slope  we're on now. We here in America, in an idiotic attempt to please everyone, have used "Political Correctness" as a poor excuse to aquiess to a small minority of whiners who don't understand that it's OK to be 'different'. Let me tell you something, "political Correctness" is the insane notion, concocted by some in the conservative mainstream media, that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end!!! We have become such a nation of cowards that can't bear the thought of hearing, or telling the truth that we now have a way of turning the truth into a lie! Americans have become so selfish and lazy that when little Johnny comes home from school and is confused,or frightened by something he doesn't understand because it's new or different, instead of educating himself, and little Johnny, Daddy is made so uncomfortable that he goes out and hires a lawyer and fights to have that different thing abolished or eliminated. I say selfish because only a selfish individual believes that how he, or she, feels about something is controlled by outside influences, "You make me feel.." "That makes me feel..", when in reality, they are totally in control of their own feelings and 'choose' how they are going to react to things. And I say lazy because in this society of instant gratification nobody takes the time to investigate that which they don't understand or fear, instead they demonize it. This trend towards intolerance is making it practically illegal to be different. People are becomming like lemmings, just following blindly a leader only because they see others following them. These people can't handle the pressure, or responsibility of independant thinking. And that's just how this government likes it. This is the reason behind the elimination of all the arts and sports from the schools. Art and music and literature require critical thinking, and that leads to individualism. The team sports teach decision making, commradary and teamwork. And that leads to organization. This government does not want its people to organize behind an issue or critically examine what it's doing for fear of being found out. But that is another ball of string to be unravelled at another time in the near future.
The point of all this is that the more we allow our leaders to determine what is right and what is wrong based on their worship of the "Almighty Dollar" and not the "Almighty God", whatever that might mean to them, the farther we get from the ideas and values and morals that make America what it truly is, "one nation, under god, with liberty and justice for all." The separation of church and state is meant to insure that one is not overinfluenced by the other, but it is impossible to totally separate the two because it is God's laws that man uses as the basis for his laws. The direction our government is taking will eventually lead to corporate America making policy instead of the People of America making it, and keeping the Word of God in mind when governing will insure our success as a free and mighty nation. Keeping Almighty God in our hearts will insure that we don't become intolerant. We must always remind our lawmakers that it is the work of God that we are doing, not the work of the elite. 2100 years ago, a man named Jesus taught his followers that the work of God, His Father, is to be of service to your fellow man. To be kind, honest and tolerant. Those who we choose to govern must adhere to that wisdom, or they certainly are not worthy of representing me. Peace Out, Unclepurple.
