"Astrotheologicmythicology"
That's a mouthful, ain't it? I made it up to encapsulate all the different disciplines required to formulate what we now refer to as Judeo-Christian religion, which as ancient, ancient history tells us is a wonderful, but quite fictional story. Whoa now! Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger! If you don't want to know the truth as recorded by the ancient peoples who started the whole thing, then stop reading now. If you're couragous and curious and a seeker of knowledge, then keep reading. Those of you who choose to remain ignorant because of your strong religious or spiritual beliefs and traditions, I, for one, won't hold it against you. When I discovered this explaination of religious reality, I was, like you, disturbed and uncomfortable with what I was learning. But being a person of humility, honesty, and principals derived from the facts, I was compelled to follow my curiousity. I hope you can remove yourself from the skepticsm and arrogance that often stifles progress, and open-mindedly allow a little hard truth into your realm of knowledge.
When asked to name the most deified figure in all of history, the vast majority of people, from all walks of life and spiritual backgrounds will say Jesus, and they have very strong reasons for their answer. The truth is, from the begining of recorded history, back to cave drawings, and after those, the first writings of the Assyrians and ancient Egyptians, the most deified figures have been the sun, the moon, and the stars. The first humans must have gazed up at the heavens and watched in absolute amazement as the celestial bodies moved across the black, night sky. And before that, wondered in awe, just what caused the almighty blazing sun to magically rise in the morning sky, supplying warmth and light, giving life, and then slowly, softly, set in the orange glow of evening becoming night. Primative mankind paid close attention to the movements of the heavenly bodies in the sky, and memorized the events that corralated with those movements, the coming of the warm rains and abundant life of spring, the ripening of fruit, and the maturing of game that came in the fall, and the cold, icy darkness of the harsh winters, and the hot, humid lazy days of the summer. They noticed the influence of the moon on the oceans and waters, and other events that came when certain stars were in just the right locations in the night sky. Early man's entire lives were structured around these movements and events, and the sun, the moon, and the stars were worshiped as gods. The first gods, before recorded language, before spoken legends, when we were barely able to communicate with each other, these were our deities. As man's skills at language developed, so also did man's systems of hierarchy. Knowledge became the ultimate power and control, and those with greater knowledge soon became the leaders and teachers, and ultimately the controlers of their lesser knowledgable bretheren. The concept continues with the current edition of humans, as evidenced by the atrocities we witness on a daily basis. But I digress. As time passed, and languages flourished in every corner of mankind's world, legends and grand stories began to be fabricated about the 'Gods' of the sky, and for generation after generation these legends and stories, along with the rights and rituals of the accompanying worship of said 'Gods' were passed down throughout time. With time, like with anything else, the leaders and teachers had honed these tales into wonderful, colorful stories of wisdom, rules, and faith, thus the origins of organized religion were developed and perfected, right up through the Assyrians to the ancient Egyptians. And all of these new religions have their roots firmly planted in the science of astronomy, and the art of astrology. Ancient Egypt has a glorious story concerning one of their most worshiped Gods, Horus, who's story so closely parallels the story of Jesus that had they been written today, there would have been one hell of a plagerism lawsuit! And the Egyptians would have won. Both were born on December 25th, to virgin mothers named Mary(or equivilant), in mangers or caves, with step-fathers with names equivilant to Joseph. Both mothers had been visited by angels telling them of the pending birth of the son of God, and both births were visited by three wisemen or Kings, who followed a bright star to the savior. Both Gods lives are chronicled up to age 12, with gaps until age 32. Both men were craftsmen or tradesmen, baptized at age 32 by prophets, had 12 deciples, and were betrayed by the most trusted of them. They were tried and ultimately crucified with two other criminals, placed in borrowed tombs at age 33, and ressurected three days later, both assentions witnessed by women deciples named Mary(or equivilant). The simularities are absolutely stunning, and much more intricate than I am detailing here. And the story of Horus is 3000 years older than that of Jesus! I want you to research this for your selves, so I don't want to ruin the ending for you. Ha ha! All of the events mentioned above, and in the hyrogliphics of the ancient Egyptians also correspond with astronomical constallations or stars, and astrological events. Just an example is the twelve deciples represent the twelve astrological houses, the three wisemen are actually the three stars that make up Orion's belt and the Bright Star they followed to Bethlehem is Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. There's so much more that it boggles the mind, but it's really interesting, and un-answers a lot of questions. The main point is that Judeo-Chritianity is nothing more than a made up fairytale, concocted to make sense of the movements of the celestial bodies and the events connected with those movements. The sad reality of all this is that The 'Christians' borrowed an existing story, changed some of the details, and have been using this lie to control and rob a huge portion of mankind for a very, very long time. Organized religion is nothing more than another form of government, designed to keep the little man under the thumb of the rich and powerful, and to take his soul, his self esteme, and his money. Why is it that most of us feel that we need some 'Higher, Devine Power' to guide us and to have faith in? Isn't it enough that we, as humans, are intelligent, curious, industrious, and full of talent and a drive to explore and succeed. We have crawled out of the primordial ooze and developed into the superior predator and creature on this planet, and for some stupid reason, that's not enough for us to have faith in us. I understand that when one looks at the condition of humanity, and the world we live in, there is a whole lot of room for improvement. But I believe we are in this predicament because we have never had the right amount of faith in ourselves as humans, as supreme beings, as the highest intelligence on Earth. Once humanity realizes that the universe, and everything in it, was created by some astronomical catastrophe, the size of which science is just now beginning to understand, and that we are where we are because we put us here, and not some spirit in the sky's divine intervention, the sooner we can get to the bottom of what is driving us to hate each other, fix it, and get on with living together as brothers and sisters, who all crawled out of the same primordial bowl of soup. There is no God, sorry about that, and there is no divine "Meaning of Life". The "Meaning of Life" is nothing more than the consequences of complex carbon chemistry. And there certainly is no real meaning of religion, other than to brainwash the weak and ignorant into following leaders who care for nothing except the aquisition of wealth and power. We are at a point on this planet where we are close to fucking things up on so many levels from global warming to global thermonuclear war, and instead of putting your faith in the scholars and scientists who have concrete proof of what's wrong and how to fix it, people pray to an idea, an enigma, a made up lie. I choose to put my faith in myself to get me through life, and the facts to get me through whatever comes with that life. Astrotheologicmythicology, otherwise known as religion. The truth is that you're better off having your horoscope done than praying to ........what?
