Promises, Promises or "If I'm Elected I'll........."

It happens each time we have an election, either local, state, or national, and it always makes me shake my head in disbelief. This time, it's the presidential election, of course, and because of the current state of affairs at home, and America's perilous position in the world, the stakes are high. There is a literal boatload of 'candidates', and all of our political parties have their perspectives vying for the chance to represent their party in the upcoming primary election and be called up to 'the big show', and a shot at 'the title'. And that's exactly what it is.....a title, and everybody from the political 'experts', to the talking heads on TV, to the man or woman in the street seems to forget that, and that's what gets my head to shakin'.
The primaries are months away, yet from all the hype and hoopla you'd think we were voting tomorrow, and that it was for all the marbles. There are like, what, a hundred candidates in the hunt but we are only hearing about a few, plus Ron Paul, and it seems like the choices, at least for the Dems and Reps, have already been made because everyone's screaming about what's going to happen if this guy wins, or that gal wins, and God forbid Ron Paul should win 'cause the place will go to Hell in a handbasket! We keep hearing the same promises that if this guy's elected he'll cut big spending, and that guy will increase taxes, or she's going to have us all getting our healthcare from Walmart, and he's going to stop raising taxes, and if Ron Paul wins, well, you know......hell in a handbasket. It cracks me up that it seems like folks forget that our president isn't a king or a dictator, even though Bush has done his best to prove me wrong, and just because they are for this or against that, that this is what is going to happen if they're 'lucky' enough to win this thing! I have talked to college students who think the president can do whatever they choose, like a monarch or dictator, but the rest of us know that's not how things are supposed to work. Some of those same students believe the moon landings were all faked in Hollywood, too. Perhaps the current administration's lack of respect for constitutional law and the rights of the people of America has been going on for so long that the majority of people have forgotten that it's Congress and the Senate, guided by us, The People, who decide what happens in America, not the president. These campaign 'promises' that are being made should only be used to determine where the candidates stand on the issues, in fact, they shouldn't even be called promises, they're called 'planks'. They make up a canidates 'platform'. Personally, I stop listening to a candidate the instant the word 'promise' comes out of they're mouth because right then and there I know they're lying. Why? Because unless the candidate is a total dunce, they know they can't 'promise' anything. Never the less, each election cycle the candidates promise, the spin doctors go to work, and the pundits wrap what the spin doctors tell them in hype, and before you know it, that guy will have the world pointing nukes at us, and she's going to run up the deficit, and he's going to tax us to death, and Ron Paul will, well, you know.....hell in a handbasket. It's the same each election year, but for some reason it feels a lot different this time. Maybe it's because we're really tired of the same old crap, maybe it's because we're sick and tired of killing innocent people in the name of America, maybe it's because we really need positive change, I just don't know. I haven't been able to put my finger on it yet, so I'm going  to keep watching and listening to the media circus as the paid schills from each of the big two battle it out for ratings and keep spreading their message of doom and gloom if the other guy wins because God knows that if that guy wins....., or if that gal wins...., and if this guy wins...., and if Ron Paul wins, well you know....hell in a handbasket!

Leading The Blind

Boy, do I feel like an idiot.......jeese! I've been writing this thing for two months now, all the time wondering why nobody is reading it, and wondering how to generate some readers. Oh, I've had some readers, but they've all been people I have basically 'forced' to read it, you know, friends, family, colleagues. Being that I am by myself here, going to school and setting my life up, and that I am basically a computer 'rookie', I am left to figure a lot of this stuff out for myself. This is sometimes a long, frustrating process that causes me to make mistakes. I have wondered what 'tags' are since I began doing this, and it's just now that I think I know what they're for. 'TAGS' are how readers are directed to blogs and other thing on the web, right? Well, I'm about to find out. I'm gonna add some 'keywords' in the 'tags' box and see what happens. If I'm correct, and I choose the right 'keywords', new readers should find this rag when searching for stuff that corrisponds with the words. If I'm wrong, I'm gonna go eat some worms! If I'm finally catching on, and this is getting out there beyond this site, please enter a comment so I know I'm on the right track, and so I can send a thank you for rescuing me! Jeese, this is like the blind leading the blind!
